Before the hot summer season begins, it's important to check the levels of refrigerant in your system. This is a common reason why you are not getting cold air when you first turn on your system or why your system poops out early on in the summer.
Grime, dirt and even insects can build up and prevent your system's electrical contacts from being effective. Sometimes this can cause your system to run all the time and not shut off appropriately. We will make sure your contacts are clean and tidy.
Just like the motor in your car, the motors on in your air conditioning unit also need oiling. Regular oiling prolongs the life of your AC unit, just as changing the oil in your car prolongs the life of your car and prevents unnecessary wear and tear.
As time passes, your AC unit may develop a build up of dirt, dust, sticks, leaves and other debris. This debris gets in the way of airflow and insulates the coil, reducing its ability to absorb heat and cool your home.
If your condenser motor is not working, the entire system does not work. Often, if your condenser motor is not working, your warranty for the unit will cover a new condenser motor.
Without functioning capacitors, your motors will not run, including the motor that runs your condenser and cools the air. We will observe your capacitors, making sure that they look as they should and test them to make sure that they are performing their roles in the electrical circuit.
We make sure that your thermostat is properly calibrated, ensuring that you are comfortable in every season. If you don't have a programmable thermostat, we generally recommend them and can install one for you on the spot.
We will check the high limit pressure and the low limit pressure. These are devices that measure your system for problems. An issue with the high limit pressure indicates an inoperative outdoor motor or a dirty outdoor coil. A problem with the low limit pressure indicates a loss of refrigerant.
The transformer in your AC system helps manage the electricity flowing into the electrical circuit of the system. If you have vibrating or humming or find that you have a tripped circuit breaker, you may have a problem with your transformer.
We will inspect your drain line and drain pan for backups or debris and make sure that both are clear. A blocked drain line can cause standing water, a moldy smell and potentially water damage to your home.
